Saturday, the 4th of October

My cousin and her new husband came to visit me today, they live in London, and I got to play tour guide a bit (as much as I could). We did go to the Eagle & Child pub, the famous meeting place of the Inklings (The group of writers that included Tolkien and C.S. Lewis)...They have kept the pub pretty much the way it was in the 20s and 30s, which means by modern standards it is cramped and dark...Still cool history though...We ended up having a very nice dinner, and an interesting time with the weather. Oxford is a bit cold (not by Detroit standards, but still chilly) and rather windy, and my cousin had worn only a tanktop and a jacket (what she was thinking, even she didn't know). After dinner, it started to rain with little bits of hail mixed in, and I just ended up taking a bus back to the Hostel (we had walked in when it was still nice and sunny)... I got back at 9:30ish in the evening, just in time to go down the pub with some of the new members of the house, and had a great time at the Chester Arms...After coming back we ended up staying up late playing a card game that one fellow had tought us...Rather fun evening...(I'd tell you the name of the card game, but that would violate our "family friendly" pledge ;)

Thursday, the 2nd of October

Finished Fallout, what a great ending sequence! Not only that, but you still get to continue the game, travelling your bad-ass self around the game completing the quests you missed during the play through...I've also decided that the matress I have over here is the second-worst matress I have ever slept on. I'm used to sleeping on my couch at home, which is relatively soft, and thusly don't really like firm matresses, but this thing goes way beyond firm...The only matress I've slept on worse than this one is one in the condo in North Carolina where I vacation with some friends...That one gives me a splitting headache after one night...but this one is not much better...wonder if Tempur-Pedic matresses cost less over here because I'm closer to Sweden...

Wednesday, the 1st of October

More people keep showing up, and it's slowly becoming a proper housing unit...I think that so far we've got around 10 different countries represented among the inhabitants here...and I'm just about to beat Fallout 2...

Tuesday, the 30th of September

Found out there's a proper supermarket near my house that is much cheaper than where I've been shopping...They have whitening toothpaste and Listerine, which are important, because I'm borderline OCD about my personal hygeine...Also, people have begun to show up this week, so the incredibly quite house (which had like 10 people in the 51 rooms) is now not so quiet...I also met a fellow from the DC area named Ryan, he's a real jerk, I can't even begin to describe how annoying he is...actually, he's not, he's pretty cool, but we had talked about my blog, and I told him I was going to insult him, so there we go...

Sunday, the 28th of September

Another day, more Fallout 2...The game is sweet, I don't have the foggiest Idea why I didn't play it the first time around...The storyline and character option are really cool...One of the few games where being a bad guy doesn't really hamper you all that much...I'm playing a generally heroic character, but you can open up the big can of nasty if you like and you don't have cops (or town guards, or something else) on you the second you enter a town...Other than that, I did nothing today...
